Of the three institutions, only the Murmansk Humanities Institute is currently a member of UArctic and active in north2north. However, Murmansk Technical University will apply for membership in 2008 and Murmansk State Pedagogical University also have plans to join.
The meeting was quite fruitful and the Norwegian NA gave information about UArctic and different programs like north2north, Go North, BCS and the UArctic catalogue. The possibility for building a Russian-Norwegian network for international offices in higher education was also discussed. The Network would provide a forum to discuss cross border items, possible new collaboration areas, challenges and practical issues.
The meeting was arranged by Finnmark University College and located at Murmansk State Pedagogical University. All three institutions participate in the Norwegeni/Russian mobility program (Barentsplus) which together with north2north are managed by Finnmark University College. The establishment of concrete activities like the mobility programs and all the possible activities under UArctic strengthens the links between the institutions and give opportunities to build network and share competence.
