According to the UArctic Strategic Plan 2008-2012, the programs are organized into the following Strategic Areas: Undergraduate Studies, Graduate Studies, Mobility, Knowledge and Dialogue, Thematic Networks, Member Services and Administration. The implementation of this strategy requires close coordination between the programs within a specific Strategic Area, and the leaders met to agree on the fundamental principles for this coordination. In the future, the Strategic Area Leads form an important body in the daily management of UArctic.
UArctic program chairs, under the leadership of the President, are currently working on the UArctic Strategic Implementation Plan 2008-2012 which complements the Strategic Plan with detais about goals and objectives for each program as well as an operational budget for UArctic. The program chairs meet in Yakutsk, Russia, on September 19-21 to complete the final planning of the Strategic Implementation Plan which will be discussed by the Board of UArctic in their meeting in New York in November.
