The Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland, seeks a Science Communication Manager.

The successful candidate must have a Master's degree in a relevant discipline, strong skills in the popularization of science, experience in project management, and a good knowledge about the societal influence of research. A PhD is an asset. Command of English is a prerequisite, and other language skills, especially Russian, are appreciated. An understanding of the arctic regions and international cooperation is considered an advantage.

Key responsibilities are expected to include:
- Taking charge of tasks related to the Arctic Centre's science
communication, especially communicating the results of arctic
research to citizens, different occupational groups, decision
makers, and schoolchildren;
- Participating in international science communication cooperation
between arctic regions;
- Promoting international and national projects focusing on science
communication, information products, and management of research
information, and acquiring external public and private funding for
them;
- Combining the functions of science communication with the other
tasks of the Arctic Centre;
- Taking part in the work of the Arctic Centre's executive group, to
engage in the strategic planning and development of the entire
center, and attending to other tasks assigned by the director; and
- Taking charge of the financial and personnel management of the
science communication unit.
