FIU has space available in the plant ecophysiology and global change lab (http://www.fiu.edu/~oberbaue/), which currently has several active projects in arctic tundra in Alaska. Their work focuses on the effects of climate change on trace gas fluxes, productivity and plant phenology, and how phenological shifts affect productivity and trace gases. The project has long-term measurements of carbon fluxes from control and warmed experiments as part of the International Tundra Experiment (ITEX), and relates robotic sensors' measurements of canopy reflectance and structure to manual measurements of tundra phenology and growth in response to climate change. The lab is also evaluating the importance of winter processes, particularly water relations, for annual carbon balance and growing season responses.
