This position requires a versatile individual with strong experience and abilities in geoscience computer applications (including GIS), in both traditional and digital methods of field mapping, data collection, and analysis, and in field logistics in remote areas. The successful applicant must have a Master's or PhD in geology or geophysics, and demonstrated experience with both geoscience computer applications and geological field mapping.
The position is based in Fairbanks, Alaska, and is full-time for 12 months; it will be renewed annually. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
The Department of Geology and Geophysics has 18 faculty members who support undergraduate, M.S., and PhD programs and conduct research in a wide range of disciplines in geology and geophysics. Alaska is a spectacular natural laboratory for teaching and research on its complex sedimentary, igneous, metamorphic, and tectonic evolution, active tectonics, global climate change, and the processes shaping its modern landscape.
