Driving all the way from Murmansk
to Alta, they learned to know the north-east part of the county quite well, and
during their stay an excursion to the Sami Parliament and the Sami University
College was also included.
The rest of the week was used for attending lectures on different Northern
topics, a visit to the local museum and associating with other foreign students
at the campus.
The students expressed enthusiasm for the
program and their stay, learning more about the Norwegian part of the High
North and the Barents cooperation. The visit was initiated by the Murmansk State Humanities
University which had
applied for, and received funding for this trip from the Barents Secretariat.
