Circumpolar Conference on Education for Indigenous People

    The Circumpolar Conference on Education for Indigenous People takes place November 26-30, 2012, Iqaluit. The conference is a 
partnership between the Government of Nunavut and the Government of 
Greenland. Jan Henry Keskitalo, UArctic's Vice-President Indigenous, will attend the conference. The
 conference also brings together educators, researchers, indigenous 
leaders, education ministers and decision makers from 7 circumpolar 
countries, 3 Canadian territories and 6 Canadian provinces. 
    		Keskitalo will be leading a workshop to discuss the issue of the delivery of quality programs in basic Sámi education in Norway, together with Laila Aleksandersen Nutti (also from Sámi University College). The VP Indigenous will also participate in meetings with representatives of Nunavut Arctic College regarding indigenous student exchanges in UArctic and related issues. One of the topics is reorganizing the UArctic VERDDE Thematic Network.
