Ther Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Vice-Mayor of Syktyvkar ,rectors of the universities were happy to underline the importance of the initiative and their hope to organize it annually. “Let’s transfer eco-days into eco-weeks, eco-months and eco-years”, said Yuri Lisin, the Minister.
Four remarkable round tables were held at Syktyvkar State University (Indigenous Peoples as an object of Not native Culture Influence in Northern Russia), Komi State Pedagogical University (Eco Education for School Children), Komi State Academy of Civil Service and Management (Comparable Analysis of Law in Barents-Region) and Syktyvkar Forest Institute (Clean City). Ministers, deputies, leaders of National organizations, scientists and researchers took part in the sessions, which were widely highlighted in the media.
Petteri Saario took part in his own films presentation for regional future and present eco-journalists with brilliant discussion afterwards.
Besides the educational and scientific part, some eco-entertainment for students took place as well. The Second Eco day ended with a gala Eco Show for Syktyvkar students. The third day contained program for school children. Over 200 Syktyvkar school children had an opportunity to watch eco-films, ask Petteri Saario questions and take part in making various kinds of eco-toys.
NETESDA made it possible to start not only thinking about environmental training and education but realizing it in a new way: interdisciplinary, practical and fun.

International eco-days in Syktyvkar

International eco-days in Syktyvkar were held in the
framework of the NETESDA Thematic Network Activities Plan and took place in Syktyvkar, Komi
Republic , November 1-3, 2012. The days were very fruitful due to visit of the
famous Finnish eco-filmmaker Petteri Saario and his wonderful team.
The guests took part in the opening ceremony at Syktyvkar State
University (main host) which was marked by an ethno-fashion show on
the one hand and participation of local V.I.P. guests on the other one.
