This year the Arctic’s Day will be celebrated in NAO,
Murmansk, Krasnoyarsk okrug and Arkhangelsk region on the 29 of
February. In Arkhangelsk, most of events will take place at NArFU,
cities’ museums and libraries. Young scientists will present their
projects as the university’s centre of excellence “Arktika”. NArFU’s
representatives took part in 11 Arctic expeditions, and the results of
those expeditions will be demonstrated at the university. For the first
time, governor of Arkhangelsk region Igor Orlov will give an open
lecture on the position of the region as a key player in the Arctic.
Important issues such as cataclysms in the Arctic, Arctic resources,
cooperation in the arctic and future specialists for the Arctic will be
discussed during round table “Arctic’s code”.

In the autumn 2011 NArFU in cooperation with the government of Nenets Autonomous Okrug and public organization took the initiative to nominate the last day of February for the Arctic’s Day or the Day of Frost. On the press-conference which was held in Moscow, news agency RIA Novosti, NArFU’s rector Elena Kudrashova stressed, that the initiative of this celebration belongs to the students, the researchers and the inhabitants of the Northern regions.
