The conference goal is to discuss the most important aspects of the Arctic seas and coastal areas research issues in the context of climate change with focus on hydrometeorological safety, environmental protection, sustainable development of natural resources, and navigation. The findings of the Russian Arctic expeditions will be presented (incl. the project “Arctic Floating University-NArFU Research School on Board” for 2012-2014) and possible measures of adaptation to climate change will be debated.
The conference will host plenary session, sections and round tables and highlight the following key issues:
• Current climate condition in the Arctic regions and forecasts for the future
• Monitoring systems in marine Arctic
• Assessment of ecosystems and landscapes of the Arctic seas
• Research and development of the Arctic shelf resources
• Impact of the climate change on economic sectors of the Arctic region
• Adaptation of indigenous peoples of the North

Round table – Energy efficiency and renewable energy sources
