The UArctic Congress 2020 will be held in conjunction with the Arctic Circle Assembly in Reykjavík from October 5–8, with shared events on October 8, and the Arctic Circle continuing until October 11.

The lead of the UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Sustainable Arts and Desing (ASAD) Timo Jokela, has received the Edwin Ziegfeld Award in honour of his work as a reformer in art and design education.

The first working day of the Arctic Science Summit Week 2019, May 22, began with meetings of working groups covering five important areas of scientific activities: issues related to changes in atmosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere and terrestrial ecosystems of the Arctic, as well as human life and activities in the Arctic.

Governments, universities, companies, research institutions, organizations and associations have until June 1 to submit Breakout Session Proposals. The Arctic Circle Assembly 2019 will be organized October 10-13 in Reykjavík, Iceland.

Memorial University of Newfoundland's Dr. Trevor Bell and the SmartICE team have been recognized with a Governor General’s Innovation Award for their groundbreaking work on climate change adaptation.

The workshop was held on 13th-14th May in Luleå, Sweden. ​As a result, curriculum of the joint online master course was finalised. The follow-up project gained funding and is to be started in the autumn.

President of Finland Sauli Niinistö is the patron of the Arctic Arts Summit 2019 to be held in Rovaniemi on 3–5 June. The theme of the summit is The Arctic as a Laboratory for Sustainable Art and Cultural Policy.

The project Partnership for Sustainability: Arctic Tourism in Times of Change of the UArctic Thematic Network on Northern Tourism develops sustainability of Arctic tourism. The project is funded from the Nordic Council of Ministers' Arctic Co-operation Programme 2018-2021.
