The fourteenth MASTS Annual Science Meeting is a cross-disciplinary event that brings together members of the marine science community, with the aim of promoting and communicating research excellence and forging new scientific collaborations. The event will take place in-person in Glasgow, and some limited online attendance options will be available as well.
The first two days will bring together expert plenary speakers and contributed talks, panel sessions and e-posters outlining the latest research and management practices that address key topics related to marine science and management in the face of global climate change and a biodiversity crisis. Alongside the general science sessions, the event includes special topic sessions, and plenty of opportunities to network. The third day is devoted to workshops.
One of the special topic sessions is Scotland in the Arctic: an introduction to ScAN's research, and it will take place on Tuesday, November 5 at 11.45-13.15 in Auditorium A. The Scottish Arctic Network (ScAN), one of UArctic's Regional Centres, is a community of researchers based at universities across Scotland who are united in their passion for the polar north. This session will feature some of the marine research being undertaken by ScAN colleagues; from understanding the impacts of climate change on sea ice to identifying ways we can protect marine life from emerging anthropogenic activities such as shipping.
